What does "Katori" mean?

Katori is a Japanese word/name whose meaning depends on the characters used to write it. For our brand, we lean into 香取, often read as “fragrance/incense” (香) + “to take/gather” (取)—a quiet but intentional presence.

That’s the point: good AI governance is the layer you don’t notice until it’s missing—the structure that keeps AI useful, disciplined, and trustworthy.

Fun fact: there’s also 蚊取り, another “katori,” which literally means mosquito repellent/mosquito control. We don’t sell bug spray—but we do help keep the “pests” out of AI use: data leakage, sloppy vendor risk, and ungoverned experimentation.

Also in parts of South Asia, katori also means a small bowl, which is a perfect metaphor too. Governance is the container that keeps AI use from spilling everywhere.
